You might remember this Van from a post over on the Vandoleros site a while back. I stumbled on it one day not far from where I live. I was sent down a road I'm normally not on because of a construction detour and found it completely by accident. I stopped and talked to the owner about it, she wasn't interested in letting it go, but did want to get it up and going again. I told her I'd be happy to help anyway I could, and left my contact info. A couple weeks ago she called me to say she had (reluctantly) decided to sell instead of getting it back on the road. We worked out a deal and I picked it up yesterday. It's a petty nice survivor, more of a later 70's styled custom. I usually prefer more of an early 70's feel, before all the aftermarket stuff started showing up, but I might just leave this one alone. It has all the goodies of the era... fiberglass scooped hood, huge chin-spoiler, pop-out dual sunroof, lighted running boards, rear window louvers, roof rack, visor, VanTrekk Grille, etc. The original (custom) interior is still intact, which is a huge plus for me, you all know by now that I'm an interior nut. I think that's actually what sold me on it. It's so rare to find a van that hasn't been gutted already. Besides it even being there at all, it's actually still in pretty good condition. The carpet on the floor needs to be replaced (anyone have any orange carpet?) but I think everything else will stay... even the mushroom stool. The body is excellent from the belt-line up. Below unfortunately is not so good, having the typical rust for a vehicle here in UT. It seems salvageable, I just need clean it up and go over the whole thing real good to be certain.
...oh, and Lane... I think we finally have a home for the Indy Spoiler-Awning!
